Why the new iPhone 11 series can be both good news and disappointing at the same time

New iPhone 11 release date, price, news and leaks

The new iPhone 11 launch date is looking stronger than ever, and we’re starting to see some real, solid leaks on how the upgraded handset will look.

If you’re not up to speed with what the iPhone 2019 rumor mill is spilling forth, then you’d best get ready for a slight disappointment: the new iPhone range looks set to be nothing more than an incremental upgrade. We’ve got some heritage in sifting through these rumors – we’ve been at it for over a decade – and nothing we’ve picked up suggests anything more than that. What does that mean? Well, a similar shape and size to previous launches (with three phones mooted for unveiling at the new iPhone 11 launch) but they won’t bring amazing changes just now. If you’re interested in what’s coming next, then we’re predicting 5G, the Lightning connector being dropped and possibly even a foldable phone – but either way, that won’t be happening until we see the next iPhone in 2020 at the very least.

Bigger batteries

The leak does not talk about Apple’s new nomenclature or naming scheme in the least but it does mention the word “Max” for the upcoming iPhone 11 version. The Max variant is allegedly going to feature a 3969mAh battery. This is pretty impressive considering the last iPhone XS Max featured a 3174mAh battery.

Slow charging

In terms of expectations from the next iPhone, the bigger Max variant should idealistically get reverse wireless charging which would be in line with other media reports. There were also talks in the tech space about how Apple may arrive with a faster 18W charger. The latest bit of leak from the alleged Foxconn member points to the fact that Apple will still be selling its 5W charger with the box.

Same storage options

There have been early rumours which focus on the topic of 2019 Apple iPhones arriving with a minimum 128GB of internal storage alongside the standard 512GB variants. However, the new bunch of leaks state that Apple would be sticking with its 64GB variants for another year which sounds like a letdown considering its direct rivals have upped the grade when it comes to internal storage. Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10 offers a minimum of 256GB storage.

Similar front design

In the design part, there have been a number of rumours which point to the fact that the iPhone 11 series will carry the same design with the Lightning port. There were previous reports which pointed to a more advanced Face ID which is not coming around this time evidently. Speaking of features which are not coming, cross out the in-display Touch ID as well, as we go ahead.

New cameras

There have been a lot of talk considering the polarising design of the triple camera layout on the iPhone Pro variants – something which Apple has improved upon “aggressively”. The newest leaks state that the iPhone 11 will get a 12-megapixel primary sensor and the entire setup will work in tandem in an RGB mode which means there will be super colour accuracy in your photos. **heavy breathing**

New rear panel

Of course, the camera module, if changed, will bring in a new rear panel. However, the new leak states that the new glass panel will now get a matte texture and will also deviate from the usual Apple branding at the bottom side of the panel. The premium models will arrive in Space Grey, Gold, Silver, and a new dark green option which is similar to Sony Xperia Z5’s Green finish.

Other leaks include the removal of the iPhone logo under the Apple logo. There will be apparently no 3D Touch as well. We had earlier reported about the fact the Apple could be removing the 3D Touch this year.
