Twitter ‘s new head Elon Musk said that the site will charge $8 (Approximatly ₹660) per month to verify users’ accounts. He said that verified Twitter users will also get priority in replies, mentions & searches, which is essential to defeat spam/scam. They will also be able to post long video and audio and will see half as many ads.
According to Musk, in addition to verified blue check-mark status, Twitter Blue going forward also will include:
- Priority in replies, mentions and search, “which is essential to defeat spam/scam”
- Ability to post long video and audio
- Half as many ads
- Paywall bypass for publishers “willing to work with us”
Musk said the price of Twitter Blue would be “adjusted by country proportionate to purchasing power parity.” To date, the service has launched in the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Launched in June 2021, Twitter Blue is the platform’s first subscription service that offered exclusive access to premium features, including an option to edit tweets. The service allowed subscribers to read articles from some publishers without advertisements. The social media platform also made an edit button available to paid subscribers in the United States last month.
